  1. Open the DMG and drag DevNotify to Applications.
  2. On first launch, paste a GitHub personal access token.
  3. Your unread count appears in the menu bar. That's it.
macOS says the app “can't be opened”?

DevNotify is an independent app and is not notarized by Apple yet. macOS shows this warning for every app without an Apple certificate — it does not mean anything is wrong. Two ways past it:

  1. Right-click DevNotify.app in Applications and choose Open, then click Open again in the dialog. You only do this once.
  2. Or remove the quarantine flag in Terminal:
    xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/DevNotify.app
